1. Drop a line
Along the northern NSW coastline there are four major river systems which empty into the Pacific Ocean. These rivers zig zag across the countryside with a vast network of tributaries. This provides the ultimate fishing experience for keen anglers.
There are many ways keen fisherman can get their fix, with deep sea, beach and estuary fishing being the most popular choices. Local businesses cater to holiday makers with a range of hooks and lines, bait and tackle, and small boats and fishing charters are available for hire. 2. Connect with nature
The countryside to the west of Ballina was once home to a blanket of pristine rainforests which sadly the timber industry devoured much of. There are golf courses peppered all along the coast. For a serious challenge head north to Terranora just west of Tweed Heads. For a crack at a championship course head south to Grafton. If you wish to remain close to Ballina the relaxing manicured fairways of the nine-hole public courses at Teven Valley will not disappoint.

4. Visit a Lookout
The Razorback Lookout, in the Broadwater National Park, provides spectacular panoramic views of the entire area. On a clear day you can see all the way to Cape Byron Lighthouse to the north. Broadwater National Park can be found to the north of Evans Head.
5. Attend a Bush Dance
If you are a fan of live music and social dancing with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere then you should attend one of the local Bush Dances. Many of the local towns hold regular Bush Dances for locals and visitors alike. This will set you back a few dollars but you will be sure to have a great time. A local band will play the night away with a range of popular traditional and modern songs. Celtic, jigs, and reels together with Aussie Bush ballads and contemporary folk music.
